It is also well known for it's meatballs, which seems strange for a home furnishings store, however they are delicious. Now recently IKEA released a recipe for their infamous meatballs on twitter, and everyone has been going bananas about it, so i thought i'd jump on the bandwagon and give them a go myself. Now a few things I've noticed about the IKEA meatballs recipe, is that it is vastly different from the one they released back in 2009, and I have a theory as to why. I think what IKEA have tried to do with this meatball recipe, is to create a cut down version which you can replicate at home. With the way the world is right now, I suspect they limited some of the ingredients that people might not be able to get hold of, or find too expensive. So whilst the meatballs are delicious, they are not the same. I think they lack a few ingredients, one being allspice. I also think they are not quite right in texture. IKEA meatballs are quite soft and smooth, whereas these are much more meaty in texture. I also found the sauce to be a little under seasoned, which could be down to the brand of stock I used. It also didn't specify to use light or dark soy sauce, both of which have different flavour profiles. what can be said about this meatball recipe, is it was tasty. If you want your IKEA meatballs fix, then this recipe will get you somewhere close to what you want. I am going to come back to it though, as I reckon I can make some improvements to the meatballs and the sauce to get a better flavour. #ikeameatballs #ikeameatballsrecipe #swedishmeatballs To make IKEA meatballs you will need: ►500g of beef mince ►250g of pork mince ►1 onion finely chopped ►1 garlic clove minced ►100g of breadcrumbs ►1 egg ►5 tbsp of whole milk ►Salt & pepper For the cream sauce you will need: ►Dash of oil ►40g of butter ►40g of plain flour ►150ml of vegetable stock ►150ml of beef stock ►150ml of double cream ►2 tsp of soy sauce ►1 tsp of dijon mustard Follow me here: Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/Adamgarrattfood Twitter - https://twitter.com/AdamGarratt_1 Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/adamgarratt_1/
